Fixed broadband service providers can now access a "preliminary version" of the FCC's broadband serviceable location fabric, said a Wireline Bureau, Broadband Data Task Force, and Office of Economics and Analytics public notice Thursday in docket 19-195 (see 2204060046). Access is currently limited to providers that "filed fixed broadband deployment data in past Form 477 filings," the notice said. Also Thursday, FCC staff issued guidance for state, local and tribal governments to submit verified broadband availability data through the broadband data collection system.
The Commerce Department is setting new countervailing duty cash deposit requirements for imports of sodium nitrite from Russia (C-821-837), after finding illegal subsidization of Chinese producers in the preliminary determination of its CV duty investigation. Suspension of liquidation and cash deposit requirements will take effect for entries on or after April 15, the date that the preliminary determination is scheduled to be published in the Federal Register.
The Commerce Department has issued the final results of the antidumping duty administrative review on heavy walled rectangular welded steel pipes and tubes from Mexico (A-201-847). These final results will be used to set final assessments of AD duties on importers for subject merchandise entered Sept. 1, 2019, through Aug. 31, 2020.
The Commerce Department issued its final determinations in the antidumping duty investigations on raw honey from Argentina (A-357-823), Brazil (A-351-857), India (A-533-903) and Vietnam (A-552-833). Cash deposit rates set in this final determination take effect April 14, the scheduled publication for these final determinations in the Federal Register.
The Commerce Department on April 13 released an antidumping duty order on mobile access equipment from China (A-570-139). The order sets permanent antidumping duties, which will remain in place unless revoked by Commerce in a sunset or changed circumstances review. Commerce will now begin conducting annual administrative reviews, if requested, to determine final assessments of AD duties on importers and make changes to cash deposit rates.
The Commerce Department issued the final results of its countervailing duty administrative review on steel concrete reinforcing bar from Turkey (C-489-819). The agency calculated new CV duty cash deposit rates for three Turkish companies. It determined that 21 other companies subject to the review had no shipments during the review period, and rescinded the administrative review of those companies. These final results will be used to set final assessments of CV duties on importers for entries in calendar year 2019.
Six weeks into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Acer said Friday it decided to suspend its business in Russia, citing “recent developments.” Acer “strictly adheres to applicable international trade laws and regulations, and is closely monitoring the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” said the PC vendor. “The company is focusing on the safety of all its employees, which includes ongoing efforts to help every individual and their families impacted by the current situation.” Acer’s preliminary Q1 revenue reached 78.37 billion New Taiwan dollars ($2.7 billion), up 9.5% year over year, for its highest first-quarter revenue in nine years, it said. Acer’s Q1 gaming business revenue grew 25.9% from the year-earlier quarter, it said.
The Commerce Department granted a level-of-trade (LOT) adjustment for antidumping duty respondent Productos Laminados de Monterrey (Prolamsa) on remand at the Court of International Trade, reversing course from its previous position. Finding that the totality of evidence supports the position that Prolamsa made sales at two levels of trade, Commerce dropped Prolamsa's dumping rate from 7.47% to 0.89% (Productos Laminados de Monterrey S.A. de C.V. v. U.S., CIT #20-00166).
The Commerce Department on April 8 released the final results of the antidumping duty administrative review on oil country tubular goods from Vietnam (A-552-817). The agency said it made changes to its preliminary calculation, setting an AD rate of 1.49% for the only company under review, SeAH Steel VINA Corporation. Commerce will direct CBP to assess AD duties at importer-specific rates for subject goods from SeAH entered Sept. 1, 2019, through Aug. 31, 2020. The new 1.49% cash deposit rate for SeAH takes effect April 11, the date these final results are scheduled to be published in the Federal Register.
