Cox Radio’s Q1 performance was worse than expected, Wachovia analyst Marci Ryvicker wrote investors. Cox Enterprises provided the update as part of its bid to buy out Cox Radio’s shareholders. March retail sales at electronics and appliance stores fell 5.9 percent from February and 9.5 percent from March 2008, the Commerce Department said in preliminary estimates released Tuesday. The electronics/appliance decline from February was the worst among 13 retail categories tracked, though car dealers and gas stations fared much worse from March a year ago, dropping 25.9 percent and 34 percent, respectively. Overall March retail sales declined 1.1 percent from February and 10.7 percent from March a year ago, Commerce said. First-quarter sales at electronics and appliance stores fell 0.7 percent from Q4 and 5.1 percent from Q1 last year, it said. Overall retail sales were down 1.5 percent from Q4 and 10 percent from Q1 last year, it said.
