The Commerce Department has released the preliminary results of a countervailing duty administrative review of passenger vehicle and light truck tires from China (C-570-017). This review covers subject merchandise from the exporters under review entered during the period Jan. 1, 2023, through Dec. 31, 2023.
EU and Lithuanian authorities last month raided a logistics business suspected of illegally exporting items to Russia and Belarus, seizing more than $1.7 million worth of goods from the company. The items allegedly were made in EU countries before the company rerouted them through Central Asian countries to circumvent EU sanctions, the European Anti-Fraud Office and the Lithuanian Customs Criminal Service said.

The Court of International Trade on April 29 told the 12 states challenging President Donald Trump's tariff action taken under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act they may file a brief laying out their position on a group of five importers' motion for summary judgment against Trump's reciprocal tariffs by May 8. The court said in a text-only order that the brief, not to exceed 10,000 words, doesn't bar the states from filing their own motion at a later date, nor will the brief be construed as a "waiver or forfeiture of any claim or argument."
The Trump administration wants Congress to increase funding for the Bureau of Industry and Security by $132 million or 77% in FY 2026 to prevent sensitive U.S. technology from falling into the wrong hands, a senior administration official said May 2.
The Commerce Department is beginning a new antidumping duty investigation on lattice boom crawler cranes from Japan, it said in a fact sheet released May 1. The underlying petition was filed in April (see 2504140065). The International Trade Commission is scheduled to make its preliminary injury determination by May 27. The investigation will continue only if the ITC finds injury. International Trade Today will provide more details upon publication of the initiation notices in the Federal Register.
The Commerce Department has released the final results of the antidumping and countervailing duty administrative reviews on light-walled rectangular pipe and tube from China (A-570-914/C-570-915). These final results will be used to set final assessments of AD/CVD on importers for subject merchandise entered Aug. 1, 2022, through July 31, 2023, for AD and in calendar year 2022 for CVD.
