CBP "successfully deployed" its first round of new Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) functionality, called ACE Deployment A, the agency said in a CSMS message. The deployment, originally scheduled for Oct. 5, was pushed to Nov. 2 due to the government closure (see 13102419). New capabilities in the ACE update include ACE Reports Software Upgrade, ACE Cargo Release Pilot Expansion, Partner Government Agency Message Set, and Entry Summary Validations for tariff classification and Harbor Maintenance Fees (see 13092719)

CBP is now accepting applications to operate a Centralized Examination Station (CES) for the Port of Port Huron, Mich., said CBP. Public comments are due by Dec. 4 and applications are due by Jan. 3, it said.
Customs Rulings Online Search System (CROSS) was updated Nov. 1 with 89 rulings, bringing the total number of searchable rulings to 179,493. The most recent ruling is dated 11/01/2013.

CBP extended the comment period by 30 days for an existing information collection on applications for exportation under special bond. CBP proposes to extend the expiration date of this information collection with a change to the burden hours.
CBP's plans to "integrate" its Laboratory and Scientific Services (LSS) into the Centers of Excellence and Expertise will not include an organizational restructuring, said a CBP spokesman. CBP recently described the "LSS integration into the CEE" in a presentation for a Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America conference (see 13102427).

James Sullivan was selected as Assistant Port Director, Tactical Operations for the Seattle Port, said CBP's Seattle Field Office in a trade information notice. Sullivan previously was the border security coordinator for the Seattle Field Office, the notice said.
