CBP created Harmonized System Update 2508 on March 3, containing 58 Automated Broker Interface (ABI) records and 17 Harmonized Tariff Schedule records. CBP said it recently worked with ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations to conduct an unannounced inspection of a CBP bonded warehouse at the Port of New York and New Jersey, where they found 16 illegal aliens working at the warehouse.

Of the 4,437 shipments that CBP has flagged for potential violations of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act since the start of the federal government's 2025 fiscal year in October, nearly 88% of those shipments are from the automotive and aerospace industries, according to CBP data released in mid-February. The data reflects volumes between Oct. 1, 2024 and Jan. 31, 2025.
CBP is implementing a new Chapter 99 harmonized tariff schedule number to implement an increase in duties from 10% to 20% on imported products from China and Hong Kong that went into effect just after midnight on March 4 (see 2503030007).
