CEA wants a U.S. district judge in Miami to jail a former trade show organizer for ignoring a Nov. 12 civil contempt order. The organizer, Justin Funocchiarro, was held in contempt for violating a preliminary injunction to stop promoting a March 2009 “ACES09” technology show in Miami Beach because it infringed CEA’s trademarks on CES. The contempt order told Funocchiarro to turn over to CEA all ACES09 ad and promotional materials and pay CEA attorney’s fees and any profits he made from the show. Funocchiarro has argued he’s not liable for the terms of the contempt order because he since has sold the ACES09 Web site and has dissolved his company.
