Three amicus briefs were submitted to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Thursday supporting California Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) in a case about a bill regulating social media feeds for minors. The legislation, S.B.-976, would make it illegal for internet-based services and applications to provide an addictive feed to a user younger than 18 unless the operator does not know that the user is a minor.
Given that more than half of imports from Canada and Mexico don't claim USMCA preferences, trade lawyers and customs experts are expecting a sharp and rapid increase in entries that claim the preference.

The Commerce Department is beginning a new antidumping duty investigation on methylene diphenyl diisocyanate from China, it said in a fact sheet March 5. The underlying petition was filed in February (see 2502130049). The International Trade Commission is scheduled to make its preliminary injury determinations by March 31. The investigation will continue only if the ITC finds injury. International Trade Today will provide more details upon publication of the initiation notices in the Federal Register.
