Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "China import").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., +CBP).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Always use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted (multi-word) term, you want to only include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

BIS to Submit Proposal to OMB on Removal Procedures for Entity List, Unverified Lists

The Commerce Department Bureau of Industry and Security will submit a proposal for collection of information to the Office of Management and Budget relating to procedures for parties to request removal from the Entity List or Unverified List, according to a notice published in the Federal Register. Comments are due to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at OIRA_Submission@omb.eop.gov by March 26.

BIS Seeking Comments on Procedure for Entity List Removal Requests

The Commerce Department Bureau of Industry and Security is seeking comments on procedures under which parties can request to be removed from Commerce’s Entity List and Unverified List, according to a Dec. 10 notice in the Federal Register. The information collection also includes procedures for requesting a “modification” to an entry on either list, BIS said. Comments are due Feb. 10, 2020.

BIS Removes Eight China Entities From Unverified List, Corrects One Entry

Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security corrected one entry and removed eight others from the Unverified List after verifying and conducting an end-use check, BIS said in a notice. The correction changes the name of Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Technology to Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems, BIS said. The eight removals from the list, all China-based, are: Beijing Bayi Space LCD Materials Technology Co., Hubei Flying Optical, Sunder Tools (Changxing) Technology, Wuhan Yifi Laser Equipment Co., Wuxi Hengling Technology Co., Xiamen Sanan Optoelectronics, Zhejiang Xizi Aviation and Zolix Instruments Co. The changes are scheduled to take effect June 27.

BIS Adds 50 Firms to Unverified List

The Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security is amending the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to add to the Unverified List 50 entities with addresses in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Thirty-seven of the 50 additions are located in China. The agency's final rule also removes 10 entities and adds one address for a person currently on the list. The Unverified List includes entities for which the U.S. government failed to complete satisfactory end-use checks, and therefore could not verify the entities' bona fides. Additions to the list are as follows:
