CBP issued its weekly tariff rate quota and tariff preference level commodity report as of Sept. 14. CBP officers seized 30,000 counterfeit mobile phones and accessories at the Dallas Forth Worth International Airport in mid-August, CBP said in a statement (here). The seizure is valued at more $960,000. “The accessories fraudulently included the Underwriters Laboratory mark,” the agency said. “CBP officers and import specialists contacted [Underwriters Laboratory] who determined that the UL mark was in fact fraudulent. Underwriters Laboratory has recorded its trademark with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.” The seizure took place on Aug. 18 as the counterfeit goods were on the way to Louisiana.
