CBP released on July 1 the quarterly Internal Revenue Service interest rates used to calculate interest on overdue accounts (underpayments) and refunds (overpayments) of customs duties. For the quarter that began July 1, the interest rates for overpayments are 4% for corporations and 5% for non-corporations, and the interest rate for underpayments is 5% for both corporations and non-corporations. That's up from 3%, 4% and 4% in the previous quarter, respectively. These interest rates are subject to change for the following quarter, CBP said.
CBP should not require “comprehensive supply chain mapping” as part of its requirements for the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism forced labor component, and should update the requirements so that mapping is done via a risk-based approach, said Kerry Novak, who sits on the Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee’s Secure Trade Lanes Subcommittee, in recommendations she read at the COAC’s June 29 meeting.

CBP created Harmonized System Update (HSU) 2215 on June 19, containing 1,018 Automated Broker Interface records and 182 Harmonized Tariff Schedule records, it said in a CSMS message. The update includes changes for the July 1, 2022, interagency 484(f) Committee midyear updates. CBP said.
