CBP is no longer requiring emails from importers to activate approved Section 232 exclusions, and will now directly process approved exclusions based on weekly lists provided by the Commerce Department, CBP said in a CSMS message Feb. 7. A list of approved exclusions will be posted every Friday, and the product exclusion ID must be on that list before the customs broker or filer submits the exclusion ID on entry documentation, CBP said.

CBP on Feb. 2 posted quota bulletin QB 23-505 on the expiration of the safeguard tariff rate quota on residential washing machines. The TRQs end on Feb. 7. On that date, after 4:30 p.m. local port time, washers and parts of washers “are not quota eligible goods,” CBP said. “Subsequent entries are subject to the normal HTSUS Chapter 84 and Chapter 85 duty rates,” as well as any applicable antidumping or countervailing duties.
CBP released two new trade user information notices on its upcoming deployment of ocean house bill of lading release capabilities in ACE. One details changes in the ocean house bill of lading release that will allow CBP to release ocean cargo at the lowest shipment level, while the other details related changes to the container freight station user interface in the ACE Secure Data Portal. Both deployments are scheduled for March 5.
