Clear Terms

Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "China import").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., +CBP).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Always use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted (multi-word) term, you want to only include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

Flores Named New Acting CBP Deputy Commissioner, Sabatino to Lead OFO

Acting CBP Deputy Commissioner Benjamine “Carry” Huffman will retire June 30, and new acting Deputy Commissioner Pete Flores will take his place, acting CBP Commissioner Troy Miller said in a June 9 news release. Flores is currently executive assistant commissioner for CBP’s Office of Field Operations. Diane Sabatino, currently deputy executive assistant commissioner for OFO, will move up into that role, Miller said.

New CBP Harmonized System Update Includes Suspension of Steel Tariffs on Ukrainian Steel

CBP created Harmonized System Update 2306 on June 6, containing 4,835 Automated Broker Interface records and 1,746 Harmonized Tariff Records. This update includes an extension, which went into effect June 1, to the suspension of Section 232 duties on steel imports and steel article imports from Ukraine as well as the adjustments required by the verification of the 2023 Harmonized Tariff Schedule, CBP said, in a June 7 CSMS message.
