In the Sept. 13 Customs Bulletin (Vol. 57, No. 33), CBP published a proposal to revoke ruling letters concerning processed brewer's saved grains and a wooden box from China.
CBP will on Nov. 4 deploy an enhancement to entry summary queries in ACE, incorporating “data elements from ACE Collections into the Entry Summary query” and moving the query “from the legacy electronic data interchange (EDI) platform to the current ACE EDI platform,” the agency said in a trade information notice released Sept. 19. Beginning Nov. 4, Automated Broker Interface filers, including importer self-filers and sureties, “will begin querying Entry Summary in ACE and will see updated input and output records,” CBP said.
CBP modified its withhold release order against Supermax Corporation Bhd. and its wholly owned subsidiaries Supermax Glove Manufacturing, Maxter Glove Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd., and Maxwell Glove Manufacturing Bhd. due to "successful remediation of forced labor indicators in the company's supply chain." The modification, announced Sept. 18, will allow for disposable gloves made by Supermax and its subsidiaries to enter the U.S. "effective immediately," assuming they are "otherwise in compliance" with U.S. laws, CBP said.

CBP New York/Newark sent an informational pipeline Sept. 18 to customs brokers, carriers and others reiterating mandatory manifest, cargo delivery and Advance Air Cargo Screening program data requirements, in response to a “smuggling technique” CBP “has identified.” CBP said smugglers have used a master carton “to conceal contraband in smaller packages contained within. The smaller packages were pre-affixed with domestic labels and were attempted to be introduced into the domestic stream once deconsolidated. These packages were either unmanifested or mismanifested,” the pipeline said.
