The International Trade Administration has initiated and issued the preliminary results of an antidumping duty changed circumstances review of certain activated carbon from China.
The Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) has posted to its Web site monthly reports containing official November 2008 trade data from the Census Department for U.S. imports and exports of textiles and apparel.
Gannett Q4 broadcasting sales were $212.8 million, about the same as a year earlier, the company said in reporting preliminary results for the quarter. More than $58 million in political ad sales offset drops in spots sold to the automotive and retail industries. The company expects TV sales to drop by a percentage “in the mid-teens” in Q1 over a year earlier. It expects to write down $5.1 to $5.9 billion on the value of its assets to reflect its stock price. The writedown stems “from recessions in the U.S. and UK and the resultant impact on business conditions and the broad-based downward pressure on equity share values,” Craig Dubow, Gannett’s chairman, said in a news release. Shares fell 16 percent.
According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection message, effective January 17, 2009, the International Trade Administration discontinued the suspension of liquidation for countervailing duty purposes for citric acid and certain citrate salts from China.

Intelsat said it received preliminary offers for nearly $114 million of its 7.625 percent senior notes due 2012 and more than $346 million of its 6.5 percent senior notes due 2013. The tender offer for the notes expires Feb. 11. Intelsat is also increasing the amount of notes available to $375 million. Intelsat said originally it wanted to refinance up to $200 million (CD Jan 16 p13).
