The FTC extended the comment deadline for its preliminary report on privacy to Feb. 18. The commission said it changed the deadline from Jan. 31 “to encourage full participation by all stakeholders.” Several organizations requested the extension, because of the nature and complexity of the issues raised, the FTC said. The report, released last month, proposes a framework “that promotes privacy, transparency, business innovation and consumer choice,” it said.

With Sonic Solutions’ sale to Rovi pending, a divisional executive signed a change-in-control agreement providing for a $300,000 lump-sum payment. Matthew DiMaria, executive vice president and general manager of Sonic’s Roxio Products Group, will get the cash payment within 180 days of a turnover in ownership, his company said. Any unvested or restricted Sonic stock will automatically vest, the company said. Rovi signed a preliminary agreement to buy Sonic in December for $720 million and is expected to close the sale in February.
