AS articles state that the lawsuit asks a federal judge to allow the government to take over the ILA and several of its benefit plans. The rebuff came after a working group’s report to the DVD Forum’s Technical Coordination Group (TCG) at its meeting in Venice, concluded Wed. Other TCG actions included advancement of several HD DVD specs to higher versions as the format readies for its planned 4th quarter launch. And, although the issue of regional coding was referred to the Forum’s Steering Committee (SC), 3 TCG working groups were assigned to begin preliminary studies.
AOL’s streaming coverage of the Live 8 concerts beat an ABC News 2-hour highlights special, preliminary Nielsen estimates showed. Roughly 5 million Internet users watched some part of AOL’s streams 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sat., topping out at 175,000 concurrent streams, AOL said. ABC’s highlights show reached 2.9 million viewers. Ratings from MTV and VH1, which also carried portions of the concerts, won’t be available until today (Wed.).
