CEDIA’s Integrated Systems Technician (IST) certification received third-party accreditation in accordance with global ISO/IEC 17024:2012, said CEDIA Tuesday. The ANSI National Accreditation Board oversaw the process. The certification contains principles and requirements for a body certifying persons against specific requirements and includes the development and maintenance of a certification scheme for persons, says the ISO website. The IST certification joins the Cabling and Infrastructure Technician as CEDIA’s second ISO/IEC 17024-accredited standard. Together, the certifications are a globally recognized career path for residential technology integrators, CEDIA said. Industry veterans who hold CEDIA’s earlier ESC-T certification will have a pathway to transition to the accredited IST certification without retesting, said the organization. CEDIA also provides preparation resources for new certification candidates.
