Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "China import").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., +CBP).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Always use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted (multi-word) term, you want to only include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

GAO Says Food Safety, Toxic Chemical, Rail Programs at Risk for Fraud, Waste

The Government Accountability Office has released its biennial update to its list of federal programs and operations at "high risk" for waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement or needing broad-based transformation. A total of 30 programs and operations are on GAO's 2011 list, including federal food safety oversight, freight rail, and EPA's toxic chemicals assessment.

CBP's FY 2012 Budget Request Would Cut Total ACE Funding in Half but Invest in Cargo Release

U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s $11.8 billion budget request for fiscal year 2012 would cut Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) funding in half but focus funds on certain important ACE functionality such as cargo release. The budget request would also provide funds for maritime cargo screening pilots, border technology, Border Patrol agents, and CBP officers.
