The Coalition for a Prosperous America announced that it had asked CBP to investigate Chinese distribution company Shein for violating the prohibition on the import of goods made with forced labor.

CBP released its Sept. 28 Customs Bulletin (Vol. 56, No. 38). While it contains recent court decisions, no customs rulings are included.
Filers affected by Hurricane Ian that are unable to comply with entry summary filing or payment deadlines should contact their assigned client representative, CBP said in a CSMS message Sept. 28. “CBP will take into account difficulties caused by Hurricane Ian when determining if it is appropriate to pursue liquidated damages for late filings and deposits,” the agency said.

CBP and FDA will implement a “streamlined information process” between the agencies beginning on Oct. 1, said Dan Solis, FDA assistant commissioner-import operations, in a letter dated Sept. 19. The new process will be “largely seamless for the trade” but will “allow for the timely issuance of the demand for redelivery of goods refused by FDA," Solis said.
CBP has been “strongly enforcing” the Uyghur Forced Labor Protection Act “right out of the gate” since it took effect in June, having already targeted 1,452 entries valued at $429 million under the new law, said Robert Silvers, Homeland Security undersecretary-strategy, policy and plans, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal published Sept. 27.
