The recent extension of over 400 Section 301 exclusions (see 2312260011) won’t be implemented in ACE until Jan. 4 at 7 a.m. EST, CBP said in a CSMS message. That means the exclusions will still expire in ACE on Jan. 1, despite the extension until May 31. Importers that enter goods that qualify for the extended exclusions between Jan. 1 and their implementation in ACE on Jan. 4 should file a post-summary correction on or after Jan. 4 “to obtain a refund of duties paid,” CBP said.

CBP is still “preparing” its 2024 tariff-rate quotas for steel and aluminum from the EU, and the “trade should proceed following existing 2023 guidance until the 2024 program is finalized,” the agency said in a pair of quota bulletins.

CBP in November identified 331 shipments valued at more than $125 million for further examination based on the suspected use of forced labor, including goods subject to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act and withhold release orders, the agency said in its most recent operational statistics update. The value of those shipments is down from October, when CBP identified 504 shipments worth more than $199 million (see 2311140053). Also in November, CBP seized 1,607 shipments that contained counterfeit goods valued at more than $118 million if the items had been genuine, the agency said.
CBP is requiring importer self-certifications for imports of salmon, cod, pollock and crab to comply with a Dec. 22 executive order banning imports of those products from Russia (see 2312220007), the agency said in a CSMS message issued late that day.
