Clear Terms

Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "China import").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., +CBP).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Always use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted (multi-word) term, you want to only include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

CBP Reports Issue with PMS ACH Debits

CBP resolved an undisclosed problem that was causing a delay for the August periodic monthly statement automated clearing house debits, said CBP (here). The missing debits should clear bank accounts within the next day or two, said CBP. "There will be no penalty issued for late debits unless there is a problem debiting from the account," the agency said when it reported the issue (here).

CBP Changes Vessel Arrival Notification Procedures at Port Everglades

Vessel arrival notifications at the CBP Port Everglades will be required to be sent via email as of Sept. 8, said the CBP Miami Field Office in an information bulletin. If email is unavailable, notifications may also be sent by fax, it said. All notices must arrive no later than 2 p.m. prior to the arrival time and include information on the carrier's name, voyage number, requested unlading time and arrival date and time, among other things, the notice said.
