Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "China import").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., +CBP).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Always use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted (multi-word) term, you want to only include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

CBP Proposes Rule for IPR Enforcement Donation Acceptance

CBP is seeking input on proposed regulatory changes that lay out how it will accept donations meant to help the agency with intellectual property rights enforcement, it said in a notice (here). The proposal is a result of the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act, which said it must issue regulations allowing the agency to accept industry donations for IPR enforcement (see 1602230080). Donations of technologies, training or other support services for the purpose of assisting CBP in IPR enforcement are allowed. "CBP will take into consideration all aspects of the proposed donation offer, including whether such offer would pose a real or potential conflict between the interests of the donor and the interests of the government," it said.

CBP Says PSC and Monthly Statement Changes Also Delayed

CBP will delay the changes to Post-Summary Corrections (see 1701060029) and the periodic monthly statements (see 1612090021) that were scheduled to take effect Jan. 14, it said in a notice (here). That notice and another (here) officially delay the major ACE deployments that were scheduled for Jan. 14. CBP previously announced the delay in the deployment (see 1701110039), which was to include liquidation, drawback, reconciliation, duty deferral, collections and statements (see 1612090030). The delay is based on an assessment of "stakeholder readiness for the mandatory transition of postrelease capabilities in ACE, including the modifications to the reconciliation test and the transition of reconciliation filings from [Automated Commercial System] to ACE," it said.
