The Food and Drug Administration will temporarily allow the submission of “UNK” (unknown) for the DUNS number of the Foreign Supplier Verification Program importer during the “onboarding period” after FSVP data becomes mandatory on May 30, CBP said in a CSMS message (here). The “UNK” code “should only be used if the nine-digit, site-specific DUNS number is not available at the time the entry is transmitted,” CBP said. Otherwise, FDA expects the transmission of the FSVP Importer’s DUNS number in the relevant field, it said. CBP will send out another CSMS at a later date to indicate when “UNK” will no longer be accepted, it said. “Please note: There are no additional changes to the required data elements for the Foreign Supplier Verification Program Importer,” CBP said.
