Filers and importers of products regulated by the Fish and Wildlife Service will in some cases need to resubmit data in the FWS eDecs system for cargo diverted from the Port of Houston, CBP said in a CSMS message. As detailed in earlier guidance (see 1708290049), no new CBP entry is necessary for shipments diverted to other ports due to the closure of the port. “However, should the filer/importer not have already received FWS clearance, they must resubmit the FWS eDECs entry,” CBP said. “For example, if an eDec is filed in the Port of Houston but has been diverted to the Port of Miami, the eDecs entry will need to immediately be re-filed to reflect clearance at the Port of Miami. The diverted merchandise must not be picked up from the carrier’s premises until the FWS release is obtained.”
