CBP updated the email address for the Trade Interface Unit at the Los Angeles/Long Beach seaport, the agency said in a Sept. 14 public bulletin. The updated address for the unit is LALB-TIU@CBP.DHS.GOV. CBP "will make every effort to process and return entries within 72 hours of filing" for paper entries, though entries filed in ACE "will take priority," the agency said. The bulletin also includes a list of frequently asked questions on several subjects, including exam instructions, consolidated shipments and proper document routing.
Cybersecurity and in-transit cargo are among the expected areas of focus for new minimum security requirements (MSRs) under the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, CBP officials said during the recent C-TPAT conference in Detroit. According to an update from Livingston's Strategic Analysis Director Philip Sutter, CBP mentioned those as focal points without getting into specifics other than timing. "During FY 2018, CBP will be quantifying the cost and benefits of the amended MSRs," Sutter said. "They will prepare for implementation and launch a multi-year phased implementation of the MSRs in FY 2019." The C-TPAT director gave an outline of various C-TPAT initiatives during a recent interview (see 1709070010).

The Department of Homeland Security extended its waiver of Jones Act requirements for fuel shipments (see 1709110003), it said in a press release. The waiver, which is meant to reduce restrictions on fuel transportation and help the recovery from hurricanes Harvey and Irma, will now apply through Sept. 22, DHS said.
CBP will delay the deployment e214 foreign-trade zones admissions in ACE, as previously announced (see 1709110034), CBP said in a notice. The deployment is now scheduled for Dec. 9.
