CBP issued the following releases on commercial trade and related matters:
CBP seized counterfeit plastic and steel water bottles at the Charleston seaport that would be worth over $12 million if real, the agency said in a news release. The bottles came from China and were destined for a California drinkware distributor, it said. "Analysis of the shipment details suggested that the cargo warranted further scrutiny," CBP said. "In each case, the importer of the merchandise was unable to provide requested paperwork demonstrating that the manufacturer of the goods was authorized to use a unique bottle shape which is a style patented and trademarked by the S’Well Bottle Company." The company confirmed the trademark infringement, "from use of the same cap to the fluting on the bottom of the bottle and everything in between," CBP said.
