Clear Terms

Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "China import").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., +CBP).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Always use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted (multi-word) term, you want to only include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

CBP Issues Harmonized System Update With 2,415 ABI Records, 489 Harmonized Tariff Records

CBP created Harmonized System Update (HSU) 1709 on Dec. 25, containing 2,415 Automated Broker Interface records and 489 harmonized tariff records, it said in a CSMS message. Modifications include changes required under a Dec. 22 Presidential Proclamation involving Generalized System of Preferences and African Growth and Opportunity Act beneficiaries (see 1712260010), CBP said. "Many, but not all, of the adjustments are effective on January 1, 2018," it said. "The changes will be published within the change record, and chapters, of the 2018 USHTS."

CBP Issues Harmonized System Update With 33,859 ABI Records, 6,591 Harmonized Tariff Records

CBP created Harmonized System Update (HSU) 1708 on Dec. 20, containing 33,859 Automated Broker Interface records and 6,591 harmonized tariff records, it said in a CSMS message. Modifications include "the annual special program staged rate reductions mandated by the individual Free Trade Agreements," CBP said. "This update also contains modifications mandated by the 484 F Committee, the Committee for Statistical Annotation of Tariff Schedules. These adjustments are effective on January 1, 2018, and will be published within the change record, and chapters, of the 2018 USHTS. However, until they are available, please contact your assigned client representative for assistance with discontinued records."
