The CBP 2018 Trade Symposium held in Atlanta Aug. 14-15 brought in 1,100 attendees, a record for the annual event, CBP said in an Aug. 23 news release.
Planned changes to the CBP Client Representative Division elicited a high volume of "feedback from discussions with the trade regarding the new model for how we assign brokers, importer self-filers, and vendor/service centers to Client Representatives," CBP said in a Aug. 23 CSMS message. Currently, no changes have been made to the existing model and "before we finalize the approach, we will reach out directly to the client(s) affected by any changes," CBP said. Another webinar will be held in September before any changes are made, it said. CBP has said planned changes won’t completely shut off direct communication with ACE client representatives, as rumored (see 1807310032).

CBP issued the following release on commercial trade and related matters:
CBP will hold monthly calls about drawback filing under the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act, the agency said in a CSMS message. "The calls will take place on the last Wednesday of each month, August 29th to February 27th from 1:00 pm -- 2:00 pm Eastern Time," CBP said. The call-in number is 1-877-873-8017 and the code is 6215791. Drawback questions can go to Randy.mitchell@cbp.dhs.gov.
