Clear Terms

Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "China import").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., +CBP).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Always use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted (multi-word) term, you want to only include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

CBP Issues Harmonized System Update With Section 301 Exclusions

CBP created Harmonized System Update (HSU) 1906 on April 17, containing 414 Automated Broker Interface records and 85 Harmonized Tariff Schedule records, it said in a CSMS message. The update includes adjustments required by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative's announcement of new exemptions from Section 301 tariffs on China (see 1904170038). Modifications required by the verification of the 2019 HTS are included as well.

CBP Says Details on Plans to Move Seaport, Northern Border Officers to Southern Border Still Being Decided

The details of CBP's plans to move seaport and Northern border port officers to help with illegal migrants at the Southern border are not yet available (see 1904120042), an agency spokesperson said in an email. "The CBP Office of Field Operations (OFO) will send CBP Officers from airports and northern border locations on temporary assignments throughout the Southwest border to support the U.S. Border Patrol during the current border security and humanitarian crisis," the spokesperson said. "The selected CBP Officers will be replacing the CBP Officers currently assigned to support the Border Patrol along the Southwest border. The exact number and locations of the CBP Officers is not available at this point.”
