Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "China import").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., +CBP).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Always use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted (multi-word) term, you want to only include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

CBP Says Some Broker Exam Takers Mistakenly Got Pass/Fail Messages

Some who took the Oct. 17 customs broker exam "logged into their exam providers account and saw a ‘Pass/Fail’ status on their individual profiles" on Oct. 21, CBP said in a CSMS message. "These results are not official and were quickly removed from the exam provider website." Only CBP issues exam results and official letters will be sent in about three weeks, the agency said.

CBP Announces Filing Procedures for Recently Granted First Tranche Section 301 Exclusions

CBP added the ability in ACE for importers to file entries with recently excluded goods in the first tranche of Section 301 tariffs on Oct. 8, it said in a CSMS messages. For the first tranche exclusions, filers of imported products that were granted an exclusion (see 1909300041) should report the regular Chapters 84, 85, 88 and 90 Harmonized Tariff Schedule number, as well as subheading 9903.88.19. “Importers shall not submit the corresponding Chapter 99 HTS number for the Section 301 duties when" subheading 9903.88.19 is submitted, CBP said.
