CBP will extend the “soft reject testing period” for steel goods from South Korea requiring a Korea Iron and Steel Association Certificate of Export (see 1909170045), CBP said in a CSMS message. “An additional CSMS message will be published at least 15 days prior to the completion of this test and initiation of the hard reject of entries lacking the export certificate number,” CBP said.

CBP also issued a notice on its receipt of a “Lever-Rule” protection application from BIC Corporation for certain pocket lighters with its trademark intended for sale outside the U.S. The company would like CBP to stop importation of the products intended for sale in countries outside the U.S., known as gray market products. CBP will grant such protection, which is known as Lever-Rule protection, if it finds the parts are physically and materially different from the products intended for sale in the U.S., it said.
