CBP issued a notice in the Feb. 12 Customs Bulletin (Vol. 54, No. 5) regarding the dates and draft agenda for the 65th Session of the World Customs Organization’s Harmonized System Committee (HSC), which will meet in Brussels March 11-20. Among other things, the HSC issues classification decisions on the interpretation of the Harmonized System (HS) in the form of published tariff classification opinions or amendments to the Explanatory Notes. It also considers amendments to the legal text of the HS.
CBP updated its ACE deployment schedule on Feb. 11. Among the listed changes are removed items that have already been deployed and revised descriptions of the deployments. Also new to the schedule is the “Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Message Set Implementation,” which has an anticipated deployment date of September.

CBP imposed restrictions on imports of archaeological material from Jordan, the agency said in a final rule. Effective Feb. 5, the restrictions will remain in place for five years, through Feb. 1, 2025. The agency also issued restrictions on imports of archaeological and ethnological material from Yemen.
CBP will be posting “the active Section 232 product exclusions in ACE” to its website on a weekly basis, it said. “If you are unable to file an entry with one of these active product exclusion numbers, contact your CBP client representative.”

The Customs Rulings Online Search System (CROSS) was updated on Feb. 7. The following headquarters rulings not involving carriers were modified on Feb. 6, according to CBP:
