CBP should “advance” its use of technologies for interdicting illicit de minimis shipments, and should update its procedures to increase the speed at which it adopts technologies that can be used to address issues surrounding de minimis shipments, the Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee said in draft recommendations set for a vote at the Sept. 20 COAC meeting.
CBP posted a new “Version 2.0” of its Customs Broker Guidance for the Trade Community on Sept. 8, adding new information on qualifying licensed individual brokers, recordkeeping requirements for broker separation from a client, filer code suspensions and CBP standards for responsible supervision and control, among other things.
CBP posted to its website two new “quick reference cards” on Enforce and Protect Act antidumping and countervailing duty evasion investigations. The first “describes the best practices associated” with filing EAPA evasion allegations with CBP. The second provides a detailed timeline for EAPA investigations “when an allegation reasonably suggests that there is evidence” of evasion.
