Arris International will help develop Charter Communications' WorldBox 2.0 video platform to be deployed on traditional TV sets in the cable ISP's footprint, the companies said in a news release Wednesday. They said WorldBox is a hybrid IP/quadrature amplitude modulation video platform aimed at allowing both traditional and cloud-based user interfaces and new video features.

A new app feature, PartyUp, from Ultimate Ears allows users to wirelessly connect more than 50 Ultimate Ears speakers “to take the party anywhere,” said a Tuesday announcement. Consumers can wirelessly connect a mix of UE Boom, Boom 2 and Megaboom speakers to create large-scale listening experiences from portable speakers. A free, over-the-air update to existing UE Boom and Megaboom apps allows users to see, select, drag and drop available speakers to join “the party” in seconds, said the company. “The party grows as more and more friends hook up, letting you blast more sound even louder.” The app is available through the iOS and Android app stores.
