US Issues Sanctions License for Belarusian Potash Companies
The U.S. granted sanctions relief this week for three Belarusian potash companies, days after the country's government freed political prisoners, reportedly in exchange for the eased sanctions.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control on Dec. 15 issued new General License 13, which authorizes transactions with Joint Stock Company Belarusian Potash Company, Agrorozkvit, Belaruskali and any entity they own by 50% or more. The U.S. had sanctioned all three firms for their ties to Belarus' Alexander Lukashenko regime (see 2511040022, 2112020023 and 2108090033). The license has no expiration date.
Lukashenko freed 123 prisoners as part of a deal with the Trump administration, which included U.S. sanctions relief on Belarusian potash, Reuters reported Dec. 13.
