House Dems Introduce Bill to Refund IEEPA Tariffs for Small Businesses

Thirty House Democrats joined the sponsor who introduced a bill last month to refund reciprocal tariffs paid by small businesses. Rep. Chris Pappas, D-N.H., publicized the bill Dec. 1. There is a Senate companion bill.

"In an entirely predictable outcome, President [Donald] Trump’s tariffs have forced American small businesses to freeze hiring, hit pause on plans to expand, and cut their already tight budgets to keep their doors open," Pappas said in the release. "They can’t wait for a Supreme Court ruling or the end of this administration to get back on track. They need us to act now."

Rep. Kelly Morrison, D-Minn., listed as the bill's sponsor, said she'd heard from many small business owners who say they desperately need relief. "Congress needs to reclaim its Constitutional authority and right this wrong," she said.
