CBP Still Considering Rulemaking on eBonds
CBP still intends to propose a rulemaking on eBonds, that would allow only sureties or their authorized filer to submit bonds to CBP and to do so using an electronic data interchange, according to a notice released Aug. 27.

Comments on the notice, which seeks approval for information collections related to that rulemaking and the ongoing eBond pilot, are due by Sept. 29.
The notice also says CBP plans to propose in this rulemaking that all bonds, riders, terminations and changes to power of attorney must be transmitted electronically to CBP via eBond by sureties or their authorized filers.
