Germany Restricts Military Exports to Israel
Germany is halting certain exports of military equipment to Israel out of concern that German weapons may be used against civilians in Gaza, Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced Aug. 8.

Israel has the "right to defend itself against Hamas’ terror," Merz said, but added that Germany is "profoundly concerned about the continued suffering of the civilian population" in Gaza. "Under these circumstances, the German Government will, until further notice, authorise no military equipment exports that can be used in the Gaza Strip," he said.
Germany is calling on Israel to give aid groups unhindered access to Gaza and to "continue to improve the humanitarian situation" in the region, Merz said.
