Swiss DPA Closes Probe into X's Use of Personal Data for Grok
The Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner closed its informal preliminary investigation into X's use of data for training its AI system Grok, it announced Thursday. It found that X users can refuse to have their public messages used for AI training, and that the platform is in compliance with the country's privacy law.

The regulator launched the probe following X's announcement last summer that it would drive Grok with users' data. During the investigation, the office said, X appointed a representative in Switzerland and provided information on its processing of public messages to drive machine learning models and AI, including generative models. In particular, the regulator said, X notified the office that it had introduced a system to allow users to refuse the use of their messages for Grok.
