Export Compliance Daily combines U.S. export control news, foreign border import regulation and policy developments into a single daily information service that reliably informs its trade professional readers about important current issues affecting their operations.

The inspection occurred on Feb. 26 "to ensure that the facility was adhering to CBP protocols for the importation of cargo entering the United States," CBP said in a March 4 release. The operation is conducted in part to ensure employees working in CBP regulated/bonded facilities are lawfully present and permitted to work in the U.S.

The inspection was part of the "FIST operations for Fraud Investigation Strike Teams," which CBP said have conducted such inspections at the Port of New York/Newark since 2012. CBP says it will continue these operations at facilities that have been identified as being non-compliant or "are potentially non-compliant with customs regulations."

Components within CBP's in-bond system include foreign-trade zones, bonded warehouses and freight forwarders.

FIST falls under the Commercial Fraud Programs Unit within ICE and the Office of Field Operations' Directorate of Cargo and Conveyance Security, the release said.
