US, Convicted Headlight Smuggler Seek Another Extension to Settle Customs Case
On June 17, a convicted smuggler of dangerously bright vehicle headlights asked the Court of International Trade, on behalf of both himself and the U.S., for another three-month extension to continue negotiating the terms of a stipulated judgment in a customs penalty case (U.S. v. Chu-Chiang "Kevin" Ho, CIT # 19-00102).

The status report noted the importer, Chu-Chiang "Kevin" Ho of California, is out on probation after pleading guilty in his criminal case regarding the same matter. Ho also had to forfeit $1.7 million as part of his plea.
The 2019 customs case has previously been extended (see 2303230059). Ho, who is joined by Wintis Corporation, Aelis Nova and Maderdove, said in this most recent filing -- which was reviewed and approved by DOJ -- that he expects he will be entering partial judgment in both this proceeding and a companion case (see 2207120038). The parties are currently negotiating payment plans for the money Ho owes in regard to both his criminal plea and the anticipated results of the two CIT cases.
