Senator Hails G7 Stand Against Russia’s ‘Unfair’ Seafood Trade
Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, said June 18 that he welcomes language included in the recent Group of Seven (G7) leaders’ communique expressing concern about Russia’s “environmentally unsustainable and unfair trading practices” for seafood.

Sullivan said he hopes the statement, which he encouraged the Biden administration to push at last week's G7 summit in Italy, will lead U.S. allies to implement steps to block Russian seafood imports. He said Russia is using “recklessly unsustainable fisheries practices” to drive down prices and force American competitors out of business.
The administration in December expanded its ban on importing certain Russian seafood to include seafood caught in Russian waters or by Russia’s fishing fleet but processed elsewhere, including in China (see 2312220007).
