EC Extends Certain Steel AD/CVD to Cover Taiwan, Turkey, Vietnam

The European Commission on May 7 extended its antidumping and countervailing duties on cold-rolled stainless steel from Indonesia to cover Taiwan, Turkey and Vietnam, the Directorate-General for Trade announced. The commission said the extension of the measures is needed to "ensure the efficacy of the original measures on stainless steel from Indonesia."

Export Compliance Daily combines U.S. export control news, foreign border import regulation and policy developments into a single daily information service that reliably informs its trade professional readers about important current issues affecting their operations.

The new action stems from "two parallel anti-circumvention investigations which showed that cold-rolled stainless steel from Indonesia -- on which there are currently anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties -- was making its way to the EU after limited processing" in Taiwan, Turkey and Vietnam. The commission said there was no "economic justification" for the move except for avoiding AD.

The extended AD were set at 20.5%, while the extended CVD were set at 19.3%.
