Rapid Response Remediation Plan Announced for Guacamole Producer
The U.S. and Mexico said they have agreed on a remediation plan for the RV Fresh Foods facility in Michoacán, a food manufacturer that produces guacamole.

The announcement said that while the employer broke Mexican labor laws, the two countries agree that the union that asked for intervention also violated labor laws.
"The remediation plan will provide a holistic solution to the issues at the facility, ensuring both the union and employer follow Mexican law and workers at the facility are able to enjoy their rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining," the release said.
The plan directs the company to issue a neutrality statement, educate its managers and workers on how workers select unions and educate workers on the collective bargaining agreement.
The plan also says the union must not extort RV Fresh, and can only accept payments of union dues. Mexico will also maintain a telephone line or direct email address so that workers can anonymously report any intimidation or coercion concerning a vote on which union will represent them.
The remediation plan is to be fully implemented by June 14.
