WSJ Identifies Company That Led to Uyghur Auto Import Problem
The Wall Street Journal reported that a LAN transformer that allows cars to communicate to networks, made by Sichuan Jingweida Technology, was the reason Audis and Porsches couldn't enter the U.S. until that part was replaced. That firm is on the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act's entity list.

The newspaper said a Volkswagen supplier that buys from JWD Technology alerted the OEM that the company had been added to the entity list, and that VW told CBP to hold the imports at the border until the LAN transformers could be replaced.
The company had claimed it supplied BMW, Amazon, HP, Tesla, Cisco and Google in past website and social media postings; LAN transformers are also in computers. BMW told the WSJ JWD isn't in its supply chain; HP said it doesn't buy directly from JWD; Cisco says it conducts due diligence; the other companies didn't respond.
