UK Issues Guidance on Data Privacy Policy Under Russia Sanctions Regime

The U.K.'s Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation on Jan. 9 published its "Asset Reporting Privacy Policy," outlining how the agency will use personal data of designated parties under the Russia sanctions regime. The agency collects the sanctioned parties' names, email addresses, residential addresses and financial information.

OFSI said that under the U.K. General Data Protection Regulation, sanctioned parties have the right to request information about how the agency is processing their personal data, request a copy of the data, object to the processing of their personal data, request that any inaccuracies in their personal data are corrected or that their personal data is erased if there is no longer a reason for it to be processed, and "complain" about the way the data is being processed.
