Exporter Accuses Easy Shipping Corp. of Botching Vehicle Shipment
Easy Shipping Corp. of Calumet Park, Illinois, mishandled the shipment of four vehicles from Savannah to Al-Khums, Libya, causing exporting company USL Auto Exporting Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina, to sustain at least $52,710 in damages, USL alleged in a complaint to the Federal Maritime Commission.

The 55-page document asserts that Easy Shipping, which USL hired in April, inaccurately described a 2005 Toyota Tundra pickup truck as a 2017 Toyota 4Runner SUV on the shipping instructions, causing the cargo to be returned to Savannah. Easy Shipping then failed to file a declaration for the returned container with CBP, resulting in the container being processed as a new shipment and sent for inspection.
The oversights caused USL to incur additional fees, and Easy Shipping’s failure to pay them led to USL's losing the cargo and the expected profit from the shipment, the complaint contends.
USL asked the FMC to hold a hearing.
Easy Shipping didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
