Rhode Island Man Sentenced for Illegally Exporting Ghost Guns
Robert Alcantara of Providence, Rhode Island, was sentenced to 68 months in prison for illegally exporting over 100 "ghost guns" to the Dominican Republic, according to DOJ.

From 2017 to January 2022, Alcantara ran a ghost gun factory in his Rhode Island home by buying ghost gun kits at gun shops "and other places," then morphing the kits into "working firearms," DOJ said. These guns, most of which were handguns, were then shipped to the Dominican Republic. Alcantara pleaded guilty in August to conspiring to traffic firearms and launder money (see 2308080044).
"The proliferation of unlawful ghost guns is a threat to public safety, and our response is clear: we will not let up," said Damian Williams, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, which handled the case.
