Tenney Introduces West Bank Country of Origin Marking Bill

Export Compliance Daily combines U.S. export control news, foreign border import regulation and policy developments into a single daily information service that reliably informs its trade professional readers about important current issues affecting their operations.

This has been the status quo since the end of the Trump administration, but Tenney said she wants to reinforce existing policy and prevent boycotts of goods produced in the occupied territories.

"The United States should always stand with our greatest ally in the Middle East and continue working to uphold the long[-]standing Oslo II Accord, which was agreed to by both Israeli and Palestinian leadership. I remain committed to standing against any efforts to delegitimize Israel, and any efforts to reverse or alter this labeling rule," she said in a press release Aug. 8.

The press release says Tenney "Reaffirms Support for Israeli Sovereignty Over Area C in Judea and Samaria." Area C is 60% of the West Bank, and is home to about 325,000 Jewish settlers and almost 300,000 Palestinians.

Tenney introduced the same bill in 2021 (see 2109240065).
