Bipartisan Bill Asking for Report on Chinese Subsidies Introduced
A bipartisan bill has been introduced in the Senate that instructs the administration to produce an annual report on Chinese industrial subsidies, with an analysis of how those subsidies pose a "significant risk" to "employment in the United States, including employment in strategically critical industries," and particularly in manufacturing.

The bill also asks the administration to recommend legislation that could mitigate the risks posed by these subsidies.
Sens. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., and Bill Cassidy, R-La., introduced the bill in early August. Cassidy said the measure is important because "the Chinese Communist Party is strengthening economic ties with Latin America through bribery, debt traps, and incentivizing corruption. We need to counter CCP investments as they happen rather than waiting until we feel the effects."
